Use this applet from WaldoMaths to explore polar curves. Note that you can choose the equation type then use the sliders for zooming and varying the angle. The variables can be altered (A, B and C) to explore families of curves. Note that an excellent feature of this applet is that you can choose to show which values of r are negative.
